Black Midnight Cake
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 cup cocoa
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup black coffee (1 teaspoon coffee powder dissolved in a little hot water, then topped up with cold water)
Method
- Sift flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa and salt together.
- Add remaining ingredients in the order given, mixing between each addition.
- Pour into a lined, 10 inch cake tin.
- Bake at 180 deg C for 45-50 minutes
- Ice with ganache: 1/3 packet dark chocolate buttons, melted with 1/3 c cream; let cool until thickish before spreading over cake)
