Steak & Tomato Pasta

Ingredients

  • 2t salt
  • 5 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/2t Dijon mustard
  • 2T red wine vinegar
  • 1/8t cinnamon
  • 1/4t pepper
  • 1t Italian herbs
  • 3T oil
  • 300g steak
  • 150-200g pasta
  • 500g tomatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2t basil
  • 1T balsamic vinegar
  • 1T parsley, chopped
  • parmesan cheese

Method

  1. Marinate steak in 1t salt, 2 cloves garlic, Dijon, red wine vinegar, cinnamon, pepper, Italian herbs and 1T oil for 20mins at room temperature, or longer in the fridge
  2. Meanwhile put pasta on to cook in boiling water until barely al dente; drain
  3. Blend tomatoes, onion, 3 cloves garlic, 1t salt, basil and balsamic vinegar until chunkily chopped
  4. Heat 2T oil; pour tomato mixture in and cook until darkened in colour and thickened
  5. Meanwhile grill or BBQ beef, or fry in butter; chop into bite-sized pieced
  6. Add to tomato sauce with pasta and heat
  7. Top with parsley and parmesan cheese
